Description
Ten new maple syrup taps or spiles. Maple syrup season is over, but plan for next year. I use plastic milk jugs to gather my sap. Drill the tree with a 5/16" drill and lightly hammer in the tap. With a sharp utility knife, cut about a 1" hole in your milk jug and hang it on the plastic tap. On a good day, I empty the milk jug twice, morning and night. Boil the sap to get delicious maple syrup. You will get about 1 pint of syrup from each tap for the season. 10 taps will give you 10 pints of syrup. These taps work with the 5/16" flexible plastic hose and tees that I am listing.Maple syrup season here in Michigan lasts about 4 weeks in March. Watch your temperature. The most sap comes when it is 25 deg at night and 40 deg in the day. The tree needs a temperature swing to make the sap flow. I am also listing flexible plastic hose if you want to have a bigger operation. I tap 300 trees with my plastic jugs and got 40 gallons of syrup last year.
